Through its dramatic rise from the ashes of its original disastrous launch and subsequent expansions, FFXIV has slowly morphed from a relatively generic good-versus-evil plot into a sprawling, fanstastical political thriller. The latest expansion, Dawntrail, may have had some growing pains as it established a compelling new era, but in its best moments it lives up to what has made this MMORPG so special for all these years. While the sequel, Doom Eternal, arguably improved on the combat by making it even more technical, for us nothing beats the relative purity and simplicity of the satisfying slug-fests of Doom. Undertale is a delightfully inventive exercise in subverting expectations.

And while everyone I met was incredibly beautiful, none of them felt deep, dynamic, or unique–my own Zois included. I’ve had HeroQuest in my collection since it came out in 2021, and have spent longer than I’d care to admit painting up its many, many miniatures. I’ve also used the app-driven version to play as Zargon when I was running it solo. And yes, yells of “bra” were unleashed at every opportunity. For more on our process, see our guide to how we test board games or the full GamesRadar+ review policy. Blue Prince takes a concept that is not wholly unfamiliar in a game, using deckbuilding and roguelike mechanics, to explore a ‘dungeon’ of sorts, but dials it up to 11 for a puzzle lover’s brain.

This 2025 review reflects our thoughts on the game’s current state at publishing. As such, post-launch updates were factored into the final score. Looking back, it’s quite astounding to me how the core of the gameplay has been so consistent, yet the upgrades make exploration more and more consistent. You definitely never feel like the requirements are helpless, but it can be frustrating to put a few hours into the late game and not feel like you’ve made meaningful progression. You explore the house and its grounds in the first person, immersing you in the world and also making it easy to miss out on interesting clues here and there if you’re not looking closely enough.

Indiana Jones And The Great Circle Review – Love Letter To Fans Of Film Trilogy

The initial response to Valorant was that it’s basically a mashup where Overwatch meets Counter-Strike–and yeah, that’s pretty accurate. That’s also a good thing, because Valorant draws on many of the strengths of those games to make something unique. It focuses on the round-based demolition-style game mode with two teams of five (attackers and defenders) on balanced maps with specific lanes and sightlines and an extremely fast time-to-kill. However, each agent (or character) has their own unique abilities that add another strategic layer to combat. Team composition plays a major role, and each agent affects what the team is capable of in each high-stakes situation.

How Do You Decide Who Gets To Review What Games?

IO Interactive’s grand World of Assassination trilogy reached its final chapter in 2021, as Hitman 3 built on the efforts made by its predecessors to create a perfectly executed experience. Bigger, bolder, and more cunning than ever, Agent 47’s journey around the world saw him explore an opulent Dubai skyscraper, solve a murder mystery in an ancient British mansion, and turn a train into a slaughterhouse as he worked his way through each cabin. Each destination offers not only some devilishly delicious ways to eliminate targets, but also plenty of room for experimentation that leads to hilarious and grim demises for anyone who gets in your way. Stevivor’ Den of Wolves preview, in which we were treated to three hours of hands-on time with the game thanks to 10 Chambers. This South of Midnight collectibles count guide is meant to help players who don’t want full signposting to each and every collectible. Astro Bot, a generally exceptional, imaginative game, features a white, heroic robot with pixelated eyes of blue who waddles tentatively through the universe like a toddler.

South of Midnight is a gorgeous game with a lot to like, but its combat holds it back from reaching its true potential. Gigabyte’s new Aorus Master line of gaming laptops come packed with plenty of high-end features and a powerful GPU that justify the units’ pricing. Thanks to the magic of multiple save files, after 22 hours, I’d seen five of the possible six (and I’m still trying to work out how to get that final one). That may sound swift for an open world game, but there are some important things to consider.

It knows you’re playing a roleplaying game and uses that awareness to mess with you at every turn, remembering your saving habits, following your story decisions, and constantly adjusting itself in surprising ways to remind you that actions have unexpected consequences. For one reason or another, these games made us wish we’d never played them. Even if there’s a good idea or two in there somewhere, they’re buried under so many bad ones and poor execution we simply can’t recommend you waste your time on it.

Building out a strategy as you work your way through increasingly difficult “blinds” with higher points requirements is satisfying for how it lets you feel like you’re breaking the game in half, only to have the game come back at you that much harder the next time. When that inevitably happens, you need to think on your toes and modify your deck throughout the run to deal with new challenges. Jokers that may have seemed useless before can result in a sudden ah-ha moment of recognition as you take advantage of their unique strategies. And every time you make it to the end–or more likely, fail–it’s hard not to start up another hand and do it all again. Another chapter in the mind-bending Remedy universe, Alan Wake 2 picks up right where the cult classic left off more than a decade ago.

Its super-deep systems, intoxicating atmosphere, and incredible audio design combine to create a one-of-a-kind survival game. At first glance, Inscryption looks like a mixture of tabletop card games with a healthy dose of deckbuilding thrown in for good measure as you risk your very life in a high-stakes game of survival. Throw in some roguelite progression, mystery, and a creepy art direction, and you’ve got the perfect mix for a game that hides more mesmerizing content beneath its surface. Absolutely strange while it deals out its ideas, that weirdness makes Inscryption the type of game that’ll stay in your head long after you’ve played your last card. Children of the Sun is a dark, atmospheric puzzle game centered around a sniper with a single bullet.

I was never completely sure if the fight I was getting into was going to be fierce or a total farce – it seems like you can’t take some inspiration from Fallout without also adopting some of its jank. Thus, I quickly settled into a slower and steadier stealth approach, particularly once I got my hands on a bow during my battles with the druids in the Casterfell Woods zone. Pretty much the only thing about it that isn’t very British is the weather. With no weather system or day/night cycle, it’s nothing but sunshine in Atomfall’s quarantine zone. This not only results in one of the least dreary post-apocalyptic game worlds I’ve ever explored, but it also makes for a startling contrast every time you transition into the dark depths of one of its many subterranean bunkers and caves. December 5, 2024 • 2024 was a surprising year — games from small teams rocketed up the charts, while big releases from major companies slowed.
